Dan is a registered patent attorney with eighteen years experience working in the field of patent, trademark and copyright law, including the drafting of opinions, and the preparation and prosecution of patents, trademarks and copyrights in the United States and foreign countries. In addition, Dan has extensive experience in intellectual property licensing, as well as litigation before various Federal District Courts throughout the United States, including the Eastern and Western Districts for the State of Michigan, the Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He received a Bachelor of Science Degree with high honors in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1983. After graduating from Michigan Technological University, he attended Detroit College of Law, now Michigan State Law School, where he served as Note and Comment Editor on the Law Review. Dan was named to the Dean's List several times and graduated Cum Laude in 1987. He is admitted to practice in the State of Michigan and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. In 1994, he co-founded the firm of Bliss McGlynn, P.C. where he continues to practice intellectual property law.
He is a member of the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Michigan Intellectual Patent Law Association, Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and the Oakland County Bar Association where he has served on the Intellectual Property Law Committee. Dan was the former president of the Michigan Patent Law Association and Chair of the Intellectual Property Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan.
Dan has written and prosecuted award winning patents and is a widely published author of articles relating to intellectual property law. Dan is also a frequent speaker on intellectual property issues and an expert in patent and trademark procurement.
